Silicon nanowires boosts Li-ion batteries

Interesting article on Silicon nanowires as lithium intercalation medium for Li-ion battery anode. Claims to be able to hold 10-times the amount of lithium.

10X by specific energy for anode, considering the cathode and volume expansion reserves, 20% improvement at most. Not bad though if realized.

Hmmm.. I most definitely read a couple of articles about this topic and it brings me back down memory lane :)
The question that I ask myself is what caused something like this to happen or be written??
